Sycamore Business Park Logo

Not normally available in rural areas, Fibre Optic Broadband is installed and ready to go at
Sycamore Business Park. You are about to get the most up to date communications ability,
usually only found in the heart of the city or on Science Business Parks. Originally the must have for high tech industries, fibre optic broadband is now helping businesses of every type and size be more productive and reduce costs.

Many people are familiar with Apples iPhone and the enormous range of apps available.
The iPhone has become a central hub, used not just to make telephone calls but to access your information, whether it is for work or for home.

In the same way, Fibre Optic broadband becomes your business hub the central point for your
communication, files and facilities, and you can access it all from anywhere. The performance of the fibre is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What does it do?

To answer this question, we have to explain how your current broadband works so you can
understand the comparison.

ADSL

At the moment your broadband is ADSL (through your telephone line) Sold with a promise of up to 20Mb/s (20 million bits per second) download, but in reality most exchanges such as Ripon only have an 8Mb/s capability. In addition, the length of the telephone lines reduces this capacity and at Sycamore, 2Mb/s is one of the best achieved. In addition, ADSL is shared with other users; this varies between 20 others on the best and most expensive connections to 150 others on some of the cheaper deals.

The A in ADSL stands for asymmetric which means that the download speed is far faster than
the upload speed with typical uploads being at 0.4Mb/s. Fibre optic connections remove all of
these issues.

What are the benefits of using ADSL broadband? Realistically, only emailing and surfing the net.

Fibre Optic Broadband

This is resilient and reliable and with a much higher capacity of 10Mb. It supplies a permanent
network connection, and it is exclusively for Sycamore tenants. This type of connection opens the door to sophisticated technology previously unavailable to you.

How can my company benefit from it?

There are numerous features available which can be tailored to your individual needs, a few of which are shown below. They are all designed to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of your business.

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)

The overriding reason for many businesses to switch. This reduces costs by offering free
On-Net calls to other users and low call costs to land lines and mobiles. One set of cabling to your premises will result in zero BT telephone line rental. Your internet connection becomes your telephone line - why pay for both Internet and telephone networks

Your telephone system

You can keep the same telephone numbers and equipment if you wish, or upgrade as and when necessary, but, the capability of your telephone system becomes so much more sophisticated:

For instance:

Never miss another business call. VoIP lines can be diverted to other telephone numbers or
your mobile phone. VoIP lines can also be set to follow and find you - if you don't answer your incoming call in the office, your caller will be diverted to the other numbers you have set. These features make the necessity of being in the office to answer your calls a thing of the past.

Allocate dedicated telephone numbers for different aspects of your business, (making small
companies appear larger)

Incoming calls can be listed in front of you so you know who is waiting, and prioritise your answering accordingly

It offers uploads and downloads of information at the same speed

Receiving a thirty page document from you with whatever it may be, graphics, photographs,
or text they will receive it quickly and more clearly than ever before, and at the same time, you could be downloading any documents, photographs or information or running any number of programmes at the same time and it will not affect the efficiency of your system. This cannot happen with normal broadband.

Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software,
and information are provided to computers and other devices over the web. This is instead of
holding files and data on a specific computer. One of the many benefits of cloud computing is that you do not need to be at your own computer to access your information you can log into your information securely via the web and use your files from where ever you are.

This is a diagram showing how cloud computing might be used in your business. Google,
Microsoft and Salesforce are some of the programmes which can use cloud computing but there are many more.

Remote access to your business systems

With High Speed broadband there is no need to store business files and documents on a standalone PC or laptop any more. If the hardware fails, it is lost or stolen or the laptop is away from the office, you and your colleagues cannot access the information held on it. Protect your business information and make information accessible to authorised users by saving all your files and documents to a virtual server. The information is available from home or on the move, access is rapid and secure and all your data can be backed up at the touch of a button.

High quality video conferencing

Time and money can be saved with reduced travel, without losing the undisputed value of a
face-to-face meeting. No jittery video link or lost words, Fibre Optic provides symmetrical video and voice communication, perfectly, every time.

Remote Backup to the virtual server

Unreliable backup is a thing of the past. Because of the fast upload speeds that Fibre Optic
guarantees, all your accounts records, customer information and files can be securely, quickly and automatically backed-up on line.

CCTV

Installed through your Fibre Optic broadband system, it can be linked straight to your computer for round the clock security and peace of mind.

Costs

As owners of Sycamore, we have invested heavily in the installation of Fibre Optic and all the
relevant equipment and network wiring to allow you to access the facility and all of the benefits.

Cost will vary with the requirements of the individual business. There will be an installation charge to your premises including the first years annual maintenance charge and you will be required to pay a monthly Fibre Optic line rental to us, which includes line maintenance.

We will introduce you to our management partner, Entanet, who provide a complete range of call services which will be managed and invoiced by them. However, you are under no obligation to use them and can use a Service Provider of your own choice should you wish.

The time for change is here, embrace it and move your business forward with Sycamore Business Park - you'll be amazed what it can do for you.
